Shimano Ultegra 6800 series received a massive boost from its Dura Ace brother this year and we're not just talking about the evident update to 11 speeds. This Ultegra series is a slightly heavier (250 grams or so) Dura Ace groupset with less of bragging rights (and we're not fully convinced on this last one given what Ultegra now brings to the table).
Shimano decided that the leap forward made with Dura Ace 9000 series shouldn't be kept only under the Dura Ace groupset, instead they share the ideas, technological advances and clever solutions with the trickled down Ultegra groupset with great result for the brand and specially the riders.
Case in point is the new 6800 series rear derailleur that exudes Dura Ace like design and performance like never before. The derailleur is now lighter, more compact and has been tweaked to Shimano's new "Vivid Index Technology" that gives the rider exactly the same feeling at the lever regardless of what direction the chain is going on the cassette. The mech's spring rate has also been updated and requires less effort at the hoods to change one or multiple gears.
This is the short cage version derailleur (SS) and can be used up to a 28T cassette.
