Ever since Shimano released the Di2 groupsets, we've been waiting for an internal battery option to replace the external one that was always difficult to find the best spot to place.
Now the wait is over and Shimano truly delivered a small, light and cylindrical battery that can be placed in multiple places of the frame like the seatpost (most common), seatube or even downtube. Probably the best feature of this new battery is that you don't need to remove it from the bike to recharge. Due to the clever junction box located under the stem, it is possible to charge the battery by plugging the USB cable.
One charge will last you 1500km to 2000km and Shimano claim you can fully recharge the battery 300 times at 100% battery capacity.
Shimano SM-BTR2 Di2 Battery comes with a seatpost mounting hardware to help you but you might need frame-specific adapters to finish the installation.
