"Oosten" is Dutch for "East" and hence represents the perfect blend of vintage Dutch styling combined with the latest cycling technologies from Asia. Designed from the ground up by Bicycles Online Australia, where we realised that women want and deserve both style and performance from their bike.

Enormous thought went into every detail on the bike. The result is a classic vintage bike that encapsulates modern technology combined with old days’ charisma - get ready to reset what you believed a ladies vintage bike can do.

There are cheaper vintage bikes out there, there are however few better quality than the Oosten. Cheap vintage bikes are designed to last for few months before they rust, gear shifts become vague and the weight of the bike means they are simply not used any more.

When used as a commuter in all conditions and terrain, we wanted the bike to be able to still perform and hence weight became a primary concern. Where possible, alloy components are chosen - such as the frame, bars and seat post, but it is also the small details like the mud guards and brakes that result in a super light weight ladies bike.

Typical steel framed vintage bikes are both heavy and tend to flex under pressure. This is where the Oosten excels and features a 6061 Aluminium frame, resulting in a much lighter and stiffer frame. This all becomes clear when you’re faced with a steep uphill and the only way up is to stand and pedal. Where steel frame bikes flex and wobble, the Polygon Sierra Oosten keeps its composure, thus resulting in less effort spent and better ride quality.

There have been no compromises in the drive train either - rather than a 6 or 7 speed freewheel, which is a very old and difficult to service system, the Polygon Sierra Oosten features a 8 speed freehub, not only does it provide more than 30% more additional gear range but it also is much easier to service. These gears are all selected using a high quality Shimano Altus derailleur offering dependable and effortless gear shifting performance.

Confidence whilst braking has been assured with the Oosten. The latest alloy "V brakes" are used, rather than typical cantilever style. These linear pull brakes of the Oosten, offer increased power and modulation and won't flex and grab during steep descents.

Perhaps the feature that goes inconspicuous the most in the Oosten are the wheels. Alloy double wall rims, stainless steel spokes and Alloy hubs all help in keeping the bike light but it’s the wheel size on this bike that will make the biggest difference compared to other bikes in the market. Boosting an elegant 700c set of wheels, these roll superbly on roads and bike lanes, with the added comfort almost trumping its speed.

Rounding off the bike, the rear rack, wicker basket and comfort riveted saddle ensures the bike has oodels of style and is the perfect modern take on a classic vintage bike.

All of our bicycles come with a Free Pro Build valued at $99. This means that your bicycle will be pre built by our professional mechanics. For your convenience, safety and comfort all our bikes are fully assembled prior to delivery. The bike is then packaged back into a box for secure shipment.

When your bike arrives, all you have to attach is the front wheel, the handlebar and pedals, everything else has been done – the headset has been adjusted, wheels trued, pedals and seat post greased, brakes and gears calibrated, and the tyres have been pumped up (please note upon arrival, in some cases you may need to add more air to tyres).

Most companies simply sell you the bike as it comes from the factory, which will require significant know-how to get your bike on the road. Currently we are the only Australian company providing this service, and have the 14 day test ride to back it up.

How does my bike arrive? Bicycles Online

All tools are provided with the bike.

If you are unsure of how to assemble this bike after viewing the instruction videos above, we recommend you ask for help from someone with knowledge of how to use basic hand tools.

Whilst your new bicycle will have already gone through our Pro Build process, you will still need to complete some minor final assembly steps when you take your bicycle out of its box.

Please follow the video playlist below to correctly complete the setup of your new bike:

Assembly Time:

  • 10-15min - You have assembled bikes before
  • 15-25min - You are mechanically handy
  • 30-40min - Never assembled a bike and working with tools isn't your thing

Unboxing your bike:

Start by carefully opening the top flap to expose the contents. You will see the bike with plenty of protective packaging and next to the rear wheel, the saddle & seatpost, a small cardboard box where your pedals, tools, bell and reflectors are. If you ordered any other products with the bike, it is likely they were placed on the bottom of the box as well. Remove all the loose items before pulling the bike out of the box and gently placing it on the floor.

Keep the box and all the protective packaging found on the bike in case you choose to change frame sizes, upgrade/downgrade the bike, or return the bike for a full refund under the 14 Day Test Ride Policy.
