Over the past year or so, the mountain bike world has seen the evolution of a new tyre size enter the ranks - The 27.5" Plus. Equipped with a wider 27.5" x 3.0" tyre, this new wheel size allows for greater traction on the trail and more stable cornering on the berms. The bigger tyres and the 120mm suspension fork also add to the suspension-free simplicity of the bike, allowing it to easily handle technical trails normally requiring a dual suspension setup.

The new Polygon Entiat TR8, 27.5 Plus Trail bike is Polygon's top of the line response to the world of 27.5 Plus hardtail mountain bikes.

The TR8 is built around Polygon's trail ready ALX Boost alloy frame, an efficient aluminum design that combines durability and performance with the new BOOST system (hub system originally developed by SRAM - 12x148mm rear, 15x110mm front). With wider Boost hub flanges, it allow the spokes on the wheelset to make a wider triangle which results in more support for the rim and a stronger overall wheel. Compared to a regular hardtail mountain bike which is normally designed for XC riding, the slacker headangle (66.5 degrees) combined with the shorter chain stays allow the bike to be ridden in more vertical environments. Along with the inherent cushion of the oversized wheels and tyres, a Rockshox Yari RC front suspension fork with 120mm of travel and hydraulic lockout helps soak up the big hits.

The TR8's groupset combines a 1 x 11 Shimano Deore XT drivetrain with a Race Face Ride Crankset running a Narrow-Wide 32T chainring. Shifting is supported with Shimano SLX triggers and Shimano's M615 hydraulic disc brakes take care of the stopping power providing excellent modulation in all conditions. A Tranz-X 125mm Dropper seatpost with Remote Lever on the handlebars, allows you to fine tune saddle height effortlesly on the fly. The TR8 rolls on a set of Entity Boost 27.5+ wheels wrapped in Schwalbe Nobby Nic 27.5" x 3.0" tyres.

The TR8 is finished with Entity Xpert stem, saddle, and handlebar, all of which balance weight savings with the kind of durability mountain biking demands. When all is said and done, this is a fun bike. Whether you are a newcomer to mountain biking or an experienced rider looking to get more out of your ride, the Entiat TR8 27.5 plus trail bike can ride faster with more control, climb steeper sections with better traction and negotiate trickier descents with more forgiveness. This is one gnarly arrow to add to your quiver of mountain bikes.
