Polygon Bend FX4 Urban Sport Disc Road Bike

The new Polygon Bend FX4 is built for the urban rider that wants a fast, agile bike that will hold up to rough and tumble commuting duties like strong, reliable work horse. Its built to be light, agile and versatile – everything the rider needs to move through the city with ease.

The Bend FX4 starts with an urban-ready and lightweight hydroformed 6061 aluminium frame with 12mm front thru axle and Polygon’s Flex Stay technology on the rear which reduces road vibrations, and keeps you comfortable on the bike for longer. The frame is sculpted to maximise responsiveness by putting the rider in a slightly more aggressive position than the Polygon Path range of bikes.

Following the frame, the wheels are going to be the most important part of how the bike rides. The FX4 wheels are hand built and start with strong, double walled alloy rims laced to high flange, sealed bearing hubs. This creates an extremely durable wheelset that’s going to hold up to urban abuse, while keeping it light, stiff and responsive – just like the frame. These wheels are wrapped in the extremely popular Schwalbe Kojak tyres featured with Race Guard protection belt and reflective labels.

The FX4 is set up with the new 20 speed Shimano Tiagra 4700 gear set which provides more speed and reduced weight when compared to previous versions. This new, highly revamped Tiagra drivetrain features innovations and upgrades that make it look like it belongs to the higher end Shimano level tier. Starting with a completely new crankset that is visibly inspired by Shimano Dura Ace, the Tiagra FC-4700 is lighter than ever before, sturdier and looks great. The added bonus for the option to change the chainrings from compact to traditional racing and it becomes clear that this is top level componentry from Shimano. The new Shimano Tiagra derailleurs have also been upgraded for smoother shifting and stronger durability and the shifters are now much quieter and responsive. The braking is handled by Tektro's new C510 flatmount road disc brakes – this means that the brake system now sits flush to the frame.

When your bike arrives, all you have to attach is the front wheel, the handlebar and pedals, everything else has been done – the headset has been adjusted, wheels trued, pedals and seat post greased, brakes and gears calibrated, and the tyres have been pumped up (please note upon arrival, in some cases you may need to add more air to tyres).

Most companies simply sell you the bike as it comes from the factory, which will require significant know-how to get your bike on the road. Currently we are the only Australian company providing this service, and have the 14 day test ride to back it up.

How does my bike arrive? Bicycles Online

All tools are provided with the bike.

If you are unsure of how to assemble this bike after viewing the instruction videos above, we recommend you ask for help from someone with knowledge of how to use basic hand tools.

Whilst your new bicycle will have already gone through our Pro Build process, you will still need to complete some minor final assembly steps when you take your bicycle out of its box.

Please follow the video playlist below to correctly complete the setup of your new bike:

Assembly Time:

  • 10-15min - You have assembled bikes before
  • 15-25min - You are mechanically handy
  • 30-40min - Never assembled a bike and working with tools isn't your thing

Unboxing your bike:

Start by carefully opening the top flap to expose the contents. You will see the bike with plenty of protective packaging and next to the rear wheel, the saddle & seatpost, a small cardboard box where your pedals, tools, bell and reflectors are. If you ordered any other products with the bike, it is likely they were placed on the bottom of the box as well. Remove all the loose items before pulling the bike out of the box and gently placing it on the floor.

Keep the box and all the protective packaging found on the bike in case you choose to change frame sizes, upgrade/downgrade the bike, or return the bike for a full refund under the 14 Day Test Ride Policy.
