These are selected bikes with light damage to the frame and components. All damage on these bikes is only cosmetic and does not affect the performance or usability of the bicycle in any way.
The damage to be expected in this category is small scratches and rub marks on the frame and components. The bike would have had next to no use but suffered unexpected damage during transit.
All bikes are tested prior to shipment to ensure the bike is in perfect working order and ready to ride.
Please note that the photos provided are just examples of the damage for this category and not of the exact product which you will receive.
Please note: Video is 2017 model, please see spec below for updated components.
The all-new 2018 BOA 29er trail bike has had some major improvements since last year, such as the oversized 2.25" tyre, giving you that extra comfort and traction when either riding on the road or on the local single tracks. We have also changed the 2018 BOA to a two-by-nine gear system which keeps the chain line straight to avoid any cross chaining. This improves gear shifting with precise and smooth movements which the Shimano Acera has to offer.
Lastly you can expect to see a newly designed matt paint job and some respectable riser bars up front. All of these new features added to this already great model bike make it truly the best value for money. This bike has been specifically designed for us here at Bicycles Online and perfectly fills the gap for those that want the easy rolling ability of larger 29” wheel, together with a competent mountain bike package.
The light weight, alloy 29er specific frame on this bike has a few neat features that make it standout in the category typically dominated by companies trying to cost save. The internal routing is certainly one of these features, having internal routing means that the cables won’t get stuck on branches, and give the bike a very clean and sophisticated appearance. Additionally there are full length outer cables to reduce corrosion on the inner cables also increase the intervals between servicing.
The Suntour XCM fork with 100mm of usable travel is also a welcome addition. Rather than the Suntour XCT fork that our competitors so often spec, the XCM features wider stanchion tubes to reduce the flex in the fork. This is important on 29ers as the fork is longer and hence is more susceptible to flex. The XCM also features a hydraulic lock out so that you can commute and also climb hills without having to waste any energy going into the suspension.
There is peace of mind too in knowing that the entire drive train is Shimano so you can be assured of perfect compatibility between all the gear and shifting components. The 18 speed drivetrain is given a huge tick of approval with the addition of a Shimano Acera direct mount rear derailleur. Whilst not commonly understood, compared to a regular derailleur hanger, the direct mount will keep your bike shifting accurately for years to come and away from the bike mechanics tuning stand.
Tektro Aries Mechanical disc brakes provide hugely improved braking performance compared to rim brakes, especially in the wet. They are also very easy to maintain and service.
Combine all this with wide rider bars, smooth rolling dual purpose tyres and you have a bike that will be as comfortable on the trail as it is in town.

All the tools required to assemble the bike are included.
Please note, that all bicycles whether purchased online or instore, are mechanical devices and need to be serviced regularly to ensure proper functioning. New gear and brake cables, will stretch during the initial bed-in period, and will need to be adjusted after approximately 150-300km.
Whilst your new bicycle will have already gone through our Pro Build process, you will still need to complete some minor final assembly steps when you take your bicycle out of its box.
Please follow the video playlist below to correctly complete the setup of your new bike:
- 10-15min - You have assembled bikes before
- 15-25min - You are mechanically handy
- 30-40min - Never assembled a bike and working with tools isn't your thing
Unboxing your bike:
Start by carefully opening the top flap to expose the contents. You will see the bike with plenty of protective packaging and next to the rear wheel, the saddle & seatpost, a small cardboard box where your pedals, tools, bell and reflectors are. If you ordered any other products with the bike, it is likely they were placed on the bottom of the box as well. Remove all the loose items before pulling the bike out of the box and gently placing it on the floor.
Keep the box and all the protective packaging found on the bike in case you choose to change frame sizes, upgrade/downgrade the bike, or return the bike for a full refund under the 14 Day Test Ride Policy.
