This year’s Xtrada 5 has been built with a stiffer AL6 frame with the latest, slacker frame geometry, which is the perfect choice for riders looking for a more confidence inspiring bike. The bike comes equipped with a 120mm travel SR Suntour XCM suspension fork (with lockout) to give the bike greater control while descending rough terrain at high speeds. With the increased travel in the fork, the head tube and stem length have been shortened to preserve the neutral riding position that Polygon are renown for. There has been no compromise on the popular handling characteristics of the bike, yet the additional travel ensures the bike is more forgiving in more technical environments.

Whilst this geometry is shared with all Xtrada models, it is in the specifications that the Xtrada 5 shines. Items that have a critical impact on feel and performance of the bike, but are so often overlooked, have all been upgraded.

One area that is difficult to see but crucial to the ride is the bottom bracket, it is through here that all the power from the pedals is transferred to the wheels. Cheap bottom brackets are housed internally with in the frame, but the Xtrada 5 features an external bottom bracket. On the external bottom bracket the bearings sit on the outside of the frame providing a broad stable base which is much stiffer and more efficient. Just imagine each time you pedal, you are rocking the spindle up and down, by providing the broader base, it makes the bike much more efficient.

Weight is also be reduced by using a much larger, hollow spindle rather than a solid steel one found in cheaper bottom brackets. This can save almost half a kilogram!

The tyres are also upgraded with super wide and lightweight Schwalbe Smart Sam offering oodles of grip off road with their side knobs, yet the centre track ensures that there is low rolling resistance, on road.

For crisper shifting the shift and increased compatibility, the entire drive train has been spec’d with Shimano Alivio M4000 - The shifters, derailleurs and even cassette are all Shimano sourced

This blend of durability and performance has made the Xtrada 5 one of our most popular bikes to ride and own, and one of our highest selling mountain bike. Our large stocks combined with incredible delivery times means you can have this bike within just a couple of days.

When your bike arrives, all you have to attach is the front wheel, the handlebar and pedals, everything else has been done – the headset has been adjusted, wheels trued, pedals and seat post greased, brakes and gears calibrated, and the tyres have been pumped up (please note upon arrival, in some cases you may need to add more air to tyres).

Most companies simply sell you the bike as it comes from the factory, which will require significant know-how to get your bike on the road. Currently we are the only Australian company providing this service, and have the 14 day test ride to back it up.

How does my bike arrive? Bicycles Online

All the tools required to assemble the bike are included.

Please note, that all bicycles whether purchased online or instore, are mechanical devices and need to be serviced regularly to ensure proper functioning. New gear and brake cables, will stretch during the initial bed-in period, and will need to be adjusted after approximately 150-300km.

Whilst your new bicycle will have already gone through our Pro Build process, you will still need to complete some minor final assembly steps when you take your bicycle out of its box.

Please follow the video playlist below to correctly complete the setup of your new bike:

Assembly Time:

  • 10-15min - You have assembled bikes before
  • 15-25min - You are mechanically handy
  • 30-40min - Never assembled a bike and working with tools isn't your thing

Unboxing your bike:

Start by carefully opening the top flap to expose the contents. You will see the bike with plenty of protective packaging and next to the rear wheel, the saddle & seatpost, a small cardboard box where your pedals, tools, bell and reflectors are. If you ordered any other products with the bike, it is likely they were placed on the bottom of the box as well. Remove all the loose items before pulling the bike out of the box and gently placing it on the floor.

Keep the box and all the protective packaging found on the bike in case you choose to change frame sizes, upgrade/downgrade the bike, or return the bike for a full refund under the 14 Day Test Ride Policy.
