While some of us enjoy the variety of a garage full of bicycles tailored to specific rides, others prefer the simplicity of one do-it-all road bike such as the 2017 Polygon Strattos S7, Carbon Shimano 105 Road Bike. The S7 may not be a dedicated climbing or crit bike, but it harnesses qualities of each—combined with a touch of endurance comfort—to truly embody a race-worthy jack of all trades. Finished with Shimano's workhorse 105 componentry, this bike will shepherd you through everything from epic gran fondos and weekend training rides, to short, punchy Tuesday night criteriums with snappy responsiveness and speed.

The S7 carries over Polygon's 2016 updates to its ACX carbon endurance frame, and is built from the same Toray T-700 and high-modulus carbon fiber as its predecessors. However, the S7 delivers a plusher ride, in a lighter and stiffer package due to a few design updates. These include narrower, flat-section seat stays that absorb power-sucking road noise while maintaining lateral stiffness. Furthermore, the flat, curved top tube is another significant redesign, serving as a leaf spring of sorts that works in conjunction with the seatstays to deliver a system-wide improvement in vibration dampening and a more forgiving ride across everything from country Australian dirt roads to the cobblestones of inner city european streets.

At the front, Polygon uses a tapered headtube for increased stiffness, exceptional handling and cornering capabilities while sweeping through descents or diving through the final turn before a finish sprint against your mates. For an extra dose of stiffness, Polygon has also opted for a beefy Shimano PressFit BB86. This wider bottom bracket shell anchors the oversized drive spine, solidly transferring power to the drivetrain while reducing watt-sucking lateral movement.

The S7 comes equipped with lightweight technology alongside reliable shifting and braking utilising a full Shimano 105 groupset. A 50/34 crankset along with an 11/28 cassette helps you keep that magical cadence you need for long rides, regardless of the terrain. The shifters are silky smooth and the chain easily finds its sprocket with the 105 derailleurs. Dual pivot alloy brakes help you control your descent and stop quickly at water stations or after the finish line. Shimano's 22-speed 105 drivetrain takes us back to the days when we first tried Dura-Ace, with all the technology that's trickled-down the Ultegra pipeline from the Dura-Ace source, the new 105 is every bit as sharp as the models ridden in the Pro-Peloton as recently as a few years ago. As your abilities begin to eclipse your current ambitions, 105 will continue to grow with you.

The S7 rolls on a set of lightweight Entity XL3 wheels with aero spokes and sealed bearing hubs wrapped in Schwalbe Lugano clincher 700x25c tyres. Completing the bike is Polygon’s in house brand Entity Xpert components including handlebar, stem, seatpost and saddle.
